Comenius
We have partner schools in Germany and Spain with whom we are sharing a Comenius project, ‘Our Friends in Europe’. Together with a local Oxfordshire school, we are building up a series of curriculum based international activities which have already started with a visit to our school by our colleagues from Europe and a return visit to Germany by three teachers from Chilton.
The teachers brought back lots of information about the similarities and differences between a day at school in Germany and Britain. Children at Chilton School also learned a beautiful Christmas song that the teachers had been taught by the children of Christian Morgenstern Schule in Darmstadt, near Frankfurt.
In April Mrs Sutherland, Miss Jacques and Miss Hilliard visited our partner school in Spain. The school is called San Juan De Ribera in Los Molares. We were made very welcome by all of the Spanish children and teachers. We were very impressed with the pride the children in the Spanish school show towards their traditions and culture. We have swapped recipies with both our German and Spanish partner schools and we are looking forward to trying some of them out!
Back at school we shared our photographs and films with the children and found out that we have our very own Chilton Flamenco dancers!!
