There are three strands in the work we shall be doing over the year:

Healthy Eating
We shall have a team working with us to improve the children's approach to healthy eating - putting healthy choices into action at dinner times, break times and out of school. We shall be reviewing our school policies and trialling new dinner time procedures such as plates instead of flight trays. We have set up a SNAG group (School Nutrition Action Group). This consists of pupils and all sort of adults and is already hard at work thinking of ways we can encourage everyone at Chilton to eat healthily. In October we shall have an enormous cooking bus visit us for a week and we shall be learning new cooking skills.

Growing our own food
We shall be working with people from Garden Organic to increase the amount of gardening we do with children in school. We aim to set up a gardening club and for each year group to grow special crops (and eat them).

Farming
We shall be making further links with local farms so that children can visit and learn about how food is produced. This is a very exciting project and we aim to involve parents as well as members of our local community. Please contact the school is you would like to be involved in any way.
